I do 6 mile hikes (over 2000 feet uphill) in Hooters shorts and Tamara. FOOTLESS. I can tell you having your feet in slippery hose inside the hiking socks is not cool (in more ways than one). And it doesn’t look any different. With heels yes, but I don’t wear those. Nor do the Hooters chicks, usually. There is just no reason not to go footless if you are wearing socks. Another benefit for us tall guys - I am just under 6′ - is that you can always pull footless up another inch or so if they are otherwise a tad short. I find Tamara Long (D equivalent) works well for me that way. Size D is a bit too short if not footless.
