A while back I posted some comments about women actors losing their heels or pumps in action sequences. Basically, my theory is that if the heels don’t come off at the very start of the sequence, they’re not likely too. This theory was proved in spades by the movie “SUperman Returns”. (possible spoilers below) I was checking this flick out last night, and there’s a sequence at the start involving a crashing plane. Lois Lane is on the plane and she’s wearing a business skirt suit, high heeled pumps, and pantyhose. An accident happens, and the plane goes out of control. Lois Lane is literally tossed about the cabin, not once, but several times. Violently. Yet her high heels remain glued on. At the end of the sequence, still impeccably dressed and high heeled, she walks to the front of the plane by the exit, faints, and falls down on to the emergency slide. STILL with pumps firmly on her feet. I coulda cried. Incidently, there’s a few bare feet shots in the film, but bare feet are boring (at least to me). Finally, this movie sucked. Hal
