The mark of truth

I say that in my very brief time here, I’ve already spotted “fakes”. People who post something untrue for whatever reason. How do I feel that I know? The mark of a true story, the mark of a person who is not lying, is participation. The natural reaction to something that sounds fantastical is to decry it as such. In essence this attacks the integrity of the original poster. I believe the normal reaction is to seek validation in the face of that accusation of falsehood. If you tell your story, and someone cries wolf, do you just walk away? I know for one that I always come up with a response, and attempt to at least persuade the doubters that I have validity as a person, and as a member of whatever group. The person who makes one post, and then disappears the moment they are questioned in effect marks themselves with the very label they allegedly try to avoid. By disappearing the instant you find yourself being challenged, you send a clear message… that you are not up to the challenge. Naturally, everyone assumes a reason why you are not up to it… Everyone must prove themselves somehow. On the internet, it is not as simple as it might be other places, in some ways it’s simpler. Running off and disappearing is rarely a way to prove yourself.Who here agrees? Who here disagrees?
